Your workshop had three sign-ups instead of fifteen. You’re staring at your laptop at 10 PM, eating ice cream straight from the carton, wondering if you should shut down your entire business.
Sound familiar?
Here’s what I learned from a $10 million entrepreneur that changed everything about how I approach my wellness business: the most successful entrepreneurs don’t avoid problems—they fall in love with solving them.
This shift from crisis mode to curiosity mode is what separates wellness practitioners stuck at inconsistent $2K-5K months from those building sustainable five-figure businesses.
Why Most Wellness Entrepreneurs Stay Stuck at Low Revenue
Entrepreneurship is one problem after another. You solve how to get consultations booked, then you solve how to convert them. You solve how to fill your workshop, then you solve how to sign clients from that workshop.
The difference between practitioners who scale and those who stay stuck? It’s not talent. It’s not credentials. It’s not even how good you are at your craft.
It’s whether you make problems mean something about your identity.
When you think “I’m not cut out to be an entrepreneur” every time something doesn’t work, you can’t think strategically. Your nervous system perceives the business challenge as a survival threat. You’re operating from your amygdala instead of your prefrontal cortex, and that’s when you make fear-based decisions like lowering your prices or avoiding launches altogether.
You’re Already a Problem-Solving Genius
Here’s something most wellness practitioners don’t realize: you’re already exceptional at problem-solving.
Think about how you work with clients. Someone comes to you with back pain, digestive issues, or chronic stress. You don’t spiral into self-doubt. You bring curiosity. You ask questions. You troubleshoot. You adjust your approach based on what’s working and what isn’t.
You solve one problem, then move to the next. That’s literally how you help people heal.
The issue isn’t that you can’t solve problems—it’s that you’re not bringing that same curiosity to your business challenges. When your marketing plan doesn’t bring in enough consultations or your workshop doesn’t convert the way you hoped, you make it mean you’re failing instead of treating it as useful data.
The Real Problem Isn’t the Problem
Let me get a little meta here: the problem is never actually the problem.
The problem is making the problem mean something about your worth, your talent, or whether you should be running a business. When you do that, you can’t strategize clearly. You want to hide. You freeze. You avoid the very actions that would move you forward.
But when you approach challenges from curiosity and detachment—like you already do with your clients—everything shifts.
I’ll be vulnerable here. My last Instagram Message Makeover Clinic launch brought in great clients, but I didn’t hit my enrollment goal. I could have spiraled. Instead, I gathered data: several people thought “messaging” meant DM strategy, not the words I use in my marketing. That’s a clarity problem I can fix, not evidence I should quit.
This approach to building your wellness business with strategic problem-solving saved me months of emotional spiraling and got me back on track immediately.
Strategy #1: The Client Mirror Method
Next time something doesn’t go as planned—maybe you launched a program and got fewer sign-ups than expected, or you sent emails and got zero clicks—do this:
Write down what happened. Just the facts. “My workshop had three registrants instead of 15.”
Ask yourself: If this was my client’s problem, what would I ask them?
Pretend you’re the practitioner and this is someone else’s business. What questions would you ask to identify where the breakdown occurred?
For that workshop example:
- How many people did you invite directly?
- What was your messaging? Did people understand the result they’d get?
- When did you start promoting it? How frequently?
- Did you follow up with people who seemed interested?
- Is this format what your audience actually wants?
See the shift? Instead of “I’m a failure, no one wants my workshops,” you’re gathering actionable information.
This works for everything. Low Instagram engagement? Ask: Was the messaging clear? Was the format right? Was the timing off? Was there enough value? Improving your Instagram content strategy becomes straightforward when you remove the emotional charge.
I used this method for over a year to improve my discovery call conversion rate from 20-30% to 60-80%. Some months I hit 100%. That shift alone transformed my revenue. I showed up to coaching calls week after week saying, “This happened on the call, help me troubleshoot,” without making it mean I wasn’t meant to be a business owner.
Learning how to lead successful consultation calls that actually convert requires this exact mindset shift.
Strategy #2: The Five-Question Problem Protocol
When something doesn’t work, ask yourself these five questions:
- What actually happened? (Facts only, no drama)
- What was I expecting to happen?
- What’s the gap between those two things?
- What are three possible reasons for that gap?
- What’s one thing I could do differently next time?
Here’s the key for question four: your three possible reasons cannot be about your inherent worth. They must be objective, actionable things.
Invalid reasons:
- “I suck at business”
- “People don’t want to work with me”
- “I’m not meant to be an entrepreneur”
Valid reasons:
- “My messaging wasn’t clear about the specific result”
- “I didn’t promote it early enough or frequently enough”
- “I didn’t follow up with interested people”
This protocol helps you collect actual data instead of collecting evidence that you should quit.
Three Benefits of Falling in Love with Problem-Solving
Benefit #1: You’ll stop spiraling and start strategizing.
Instead of spending three hours on a Sunday night wondering if you should quit (or an entire coaching session spiraling), you’ll spend 20 minutes figuring out what to adjust. You’ll get so much time back—time to fix the actual thing, time to be with your family, time to not feel terrible.
Benefit #2: You’ll make better business decisions.
In crisis mode, you make fear-based decisions. You might lower your prices when you should be refining your pricing strategy instead. You might overdeliver to exhaustion trying to prove your worth. You might avoid launching again because what if it fails?
In curiosity mode, you make strategic decisions. You look at data. You test. You adjust. You learn. You try again.
Benefit #3: You become magnetic to ideal clients.
Clients feel your confidence in your problem-solving abilities. They trust you in sessions because you approach their challenges with curiosity instead of doubt.
They want to feel that same confidence in their own lives. When you treat business challenges as interesting puzzles instead of proof you’re failing, you show up differently in your marketing and selling. You’re not desperate or apologetic. You’re the practitioner who says, “Interesting. Here’s what I think is happening. Let’s try this approach.”
That calm confidence? That’s what makes people want to work with you—not just for their health problems, but because they see you navigate challenges with grace and want that for themselves.
Your Action Plan This Week
Pick one thing in your business that’s currently making you spiral. Maybe last month didn’t go as planned. Maybe a recent launch fell short. Maybe you’re struggling to create an offer that converts consistently.
Apply both strategies:
Use the Client Mirror Method. Pretend your business is a client. From a place of curiosity and detachment, analyze what happened with that problem. Remove all the drama and look at just the facts.
Answer the Five Questions. Write down your answers. Remember: your three possible reasons for the gap must be objective, actionable things—not judgments about your worth.
Pick one answer from question four and implement it.
By making these small tweaks week after week, that’s how you grow year after year. It’s exactly what I do in my business, and it’s how I’ve increased revenue every single year.
