———————————————————-
Hello there, wellness entrepreneur. Welcome back!
Today, we’re talking a continuation on the Instagram series, specifically signing more wellness clients on Instagram so you can grow your online business. You can also sign in-person wellness clients off Instagram so you can have a hybrid, some in-person clients, people coming to your yoga classes.
I just had a client, Dana, we spent one session talking about her messaging so she could fill some upcoming workshops. She has to fill her brick and mortar practice. And through this, both combination of teaching yoga classes, workshops out in the public, making some Instagram posts and knowing which Instagrams posts to boost, she’s filled her workshops, filled her classes and have gone from one client a week to now 12. So you can do it too.
And I’ve had a couple blogs now on specific strategies for Instagram to sign more clients online, as well as the mindset behind it. And today we’re going to do a combo effect of both of those, combining them into the essential strategies because you might have listened to that and you say, “Okay, Alison, that sounds nice, but it just feels like a little much for me to do right now, or I’m not there yet. I’m not even posting hardly at all,” or, “I just don’t have a lot of time for Instagram, but I do want to show up consistently,” or you want to do a combination.
This is personally what I do when I’m learning new strategies for any area of my business. But I will always go back to what allows me to show up in the simplest, easiest way, or sometimes you hear this as B minus work. I don’t necessarily look at it that way because I’m always giving my 100%, but I’m not perfecting it through all the different layers that I could. So I’ll give you a specific example in just a moment.
But if you were looking to eventually add in layers on Instagram, like different types of format, different types of content, different ways to post call to actions, reels versus carousels and all the things, then you might want to start, but all that causes you to freeze. What you might consider doing is just posting, posting anything, and we’ll go over the simplest essential strategies here. And then if you have extra time, throw in some more complicated posts and see how they do, and then continuously evaluate your content throughout a week.

How I Evaluate My Content on Instagram
So for me, I usually evaluate my content every two to three days right now, because I’m creating content in two batches in a week because I’m learning so much from each piece of content that I can batch on Monday to Thursday and then create a few more pieces of content on Thursday to carry me through the remainder of the week because right now I am posting on the weekends because I’m gaining a lot of momentum, not that you have to, I’ve built to that.
But some days I just repurpose content that I have known has worked for me in the past or the methodology that I know that’s easiest for me to post if I’m short on time. And if I have more time, or I just want to try new strategies of posting content or layering in new ideas for posting content, or trying something new, I might just do it in fewer pieces of content.
Looking at How Much Time You Have in A Week
So to break it down in a step-by-step, it’s just looking at how much time you have in a week if you want to show up consistently to post, to create content, and to post. You can get a lot done in terms of creating content in one hour and then splitting up one hour, leaving 15 minutes to a half hour to actually post and engage when you do post. And that’ll carry you through the week.
But how many pieces of content can you create in that one hour? If you can create three pieces of content just posting organically, like not following any type of messaging strategy, I typically tell my clients, just talk to one of your ideal types of clients that you love to work with, you know that you can help and speak to one of their problems, and then just cycle through different types of clients and always speaking to one of them at a time and one of their clients.
Over time, you’re going to produce a body of work that is a combination of all that you can do and highlights that you’re an expert and why you’re different from other practitioners or Western medicine so that people should work for you.

What Freezes Entrepreneurs In Creating Content
I think often what freezes a lot of wellness entrepreneurs from creating a lot of client content, for example, when Dana and I was first talking that day, she had told me that one piece of content, one reel potentially took 90 minutes to create. One reel took 90 minutes.
And after breaking that down, why that was happening, it was because she was trying to create essentially four reels in one. That reel that took 90 minutes to create actually should have been broken up into four different types of reels and literally, she can repurpose it and now just re chop some of those, chop it up and create four different reels.
So really in that 90 minutes, she created four reels. When you know what Instagram is really looking for, when you know what your audience really wants to hear, but the only way to gather that data for your audience specifically, for your account specifically is to show up in the first place.
So whatever helps you to rip that bandaid off and just show up, whether it’s from even letting go of speaking to one of your ideal clients and one of their problems or one of their desires, even just letting that go and showing up and just saying what’s on your mind to start. And can you do that three times a week? I have to take these up. Show off, show up and speak what’s on your mind. That’s it.
And then you can begin to refine from there and add in more layers over time.
So the first reason why many wellness entrepreneurs get stuck is because they’re trying to cram too much, speaking to too many people, too many problems, too many solutions and highlight anatomy and highlight exercises and do all the things in one reel that’s less than 90 seconds or even try to create it under 30 seconds and that often just causes people to feel like they’re going spontaneously combust or freeze trying to get it all in.
So break it up or create that long one and chop it up, whatever is easier for you.

The other reason why people aren’t showing up consistently has a lot to do with what we talked about last week and that’s a lot of the mindset component of limiting beliefs. Feeling that Instagram is too crowded in the wellness place. There’s too many wellness practitioners and yoga teachers and healers and physical therapists speaking to women’s health, doing what you’re doing, nutrition, weight loss and where will you fit in? How will you stand out from the noise? Your voice will just get lost.
Those are all limiting thoughts because the more that you do show up and evaluate what’s going on with your content and as sustainable for you, adding in layers of strategy and skill set as you learn them over time, your voice won’t get lost. You will stand out. You will be different than the other experts out there. Your specific expertise and your experience, your story will begin to shine through and people will see that.

But again, because people often have those limiting beliefs, they try to cram, it comes full circle. They try to cram so much into one reel or one piece of content that causes them to freeze or they feel like they can’t create that piece of content because it’s not coming together so they don’t post anything at all. Or it just takes too much time or it sits in the drafts continuously being edited but never being posted.
So if you have that limiting belief, it’s important to first become aware and then acknowledge that yes, there are a lot of people on Instagram. Yes, there’s a lot of wellness practitioners on Instagram but also there’s a lot of people looking for help in their health and wellness on Instagram as well. And actually, there’s more people that need help than there are practitioners, right? And if you just look at the numbers of how many practitioners there are in the world and how many people there are in the world, there’s more people that need help than practitioners.
And you don’t need right now, specifically thousands and thousands of people a month, depending on the price of your program, which is why I really work with people holistically with their Instagram marketing plan within their 100K marketing plan and with their business ecosystem is defining what that offer is, what that price point is, who you help, the length of time and all those things. So everything works together instead of feeling like piecemeal.
So depending on the price of your program, maybe you only need three to six people a month to sign if you’re working one to one, for example, because you have a higher ticket program or if you have the audience size, you can sign 50 to 100 people a month if you have more of a membership or a group program that’s more mid-range price, but it’s believing that you will reach your audience. You’ll be able to connect with those people that resonate with you. And how can you simply just show up today? What do you need to tell yourself in terms of the audience size, for example, or Instagram being too crowded to allow you to show up and tell a little bit about your health story?
Tell a little bit about clients that you’ve worked with or speak to a solution that you offer. What’s one thing that you can highlight and then tomorrow or the next day, highlight another client story or another solution that you offer or another part of your own health and wellness story and then it builds upon yourself.
Another mindset area that people often get stuck with is scarcity mindset that they can’t keep up with the trends of Instagram or post enough to make it worthwhile. So then they don’t post at all. But the truth is the trends will come and go on Instagram and if you have this fundamental, simple Instagram strategy where if you just show up and post and you’re posting calls to action in a good number of your posts, some will have, depending on your call to action, some will be promoting growth.

So maybe just following you on Instagram or booking a consultation call or coming to a master class that over time you will get more refined in your calls to action, you will grow more and you will convert more. That is the fundamental thing.
It doesn’t matter if you’re doing a carousel, if you’re doing a reel, if you’re doing a story, if you’re doing an Instagram live or if you’re resharing a gift, there’s so many different ways to show up on Instagram. And yes, there will be things that come and go. Like for example, for a while Instagram TV, do you remember when that was a thing years ago? That Instagram was pushing all these people to put like YouTube, it was almost like they were trying to compete with YouTube, like these long form contents on Instagram. And then they realized, “Okay, that’s not the audience of Instagram. People actually don’t want long form content on Instagram so much.” And they started to gravitate towards reels and reels have really stuck.

But in five years from now, maybe Instagram will be onto something else. But you don’t have to jump quickly to that new trend. In fact, one of my coaches, she still posts static pictures with captions and rarely does a reel because she’s built her audience and she’s still converting off of Instagram.
And the better and faster you get creating content, you can decide to stick to the strategy that works for you and or learn a new strategy, understanding the underlying principles that the more consistently I show up, if I continue to evaluate the data of what my audience wants to hear, if I layer in, okay, a couple of times, I’ll go back to my old strategy of maybe posting a reel or a static picture post. And over time, I will layer in the new Instagram strategies.
You will keep up with the trends or the trends won’t matter so much if you just know what works for you and your audience. So that helps with that scarcity mindset.
And posting enough to make it worthwhile. This is a tricky one because the more you do post, the more you’re going to show up.
When I was posting three to five times a week versus now I’m posting seven times a week, I definitely get more views. Like if you look in your bio, Instagram will give you the average for each week, the number of views that your content sees. So when I was posting three to five times a week, I was reaching about 12,000 to 13,000 people a week, 12,000 to 13,000 views. Not so bad. But when I posted seven times a week, that more than doubled. I’d started hitting 30,000 a week. And then last week, I mean, this is built over months now that I can create content faster. I layered this in.

So again, don’t feel rushed, don’t use this against yourself. But I tried posting, I think I post nine or 10 times in one week because Monday and Tuesday I did two, Thursday I added in a carousel post. Yep, so that’s 10. 10 pieces of content I posted out in the week that does not include stories. I also did stories, but I reached over 60,000 views in one week.
So Instagram right now anyways, is rewarding those that do show up more consistently. Now, I don’t know if there is a threshold of posting too much. You really have to see for your audience. For me, I found it’s better to, for example, if I’m adding that second post or second reel a day, to not do it go from seven to 14, but go to seven to nine, seven to 10, and then stay at 10 for a while, add in another one. So maybe in the next week, I’ll stay at 10 posts a week till I can get quick at that. And then maybe I’ll add another reel or two, eventually working up to twice a day for a week, 14 pieces of content. So I’m layering it. That’s how I found that I’m not saturating my audience or getting dinged from posting too much.
But I have, as you know, I’m in an Instagram mastermind. So I have colleagues that post three or four times a day or even more every three hours. And they use the schedule feature on Instagram to schedule. And now some of them have audiences of 76,000 people, or another one has 260,000 followers. So they have large audiences now. And some of that doubling up on the content has really helped with that, or posting more frequently has really helped with that.
However, it is quality over quantity. So you don’t want to hustle and rush out to just get content out there. You want it to be valuable content that’s going to give your audience wins. It’s also, you want it to be content that’s relative to the work that you do in the health and wellness field. So if one does pop off, as my coach says, or goes viral, you want the followers that do follow you from that reel to want what you have to sell. Because whatever message you had in that reel spoke to the problem that they have currently. You don’t want to go viral for something not relevant to anything that you do or help. So it is quality over quantity.
Must Read: Overcome Imposter Syndrome and Boost Your Content Creation for Wellness Coaching
And you just have to start somewhere, whether it’s one post a week. I think that’s a very reasonable place to start. One reel a week, one story a week. Get that going and bring any coaching that you have to your coach or any programs you have access to get feedback on or appear and coach on how long it takes you to create that one piece of content and ways that you can speed up the process.
And so then over time, you can add in more layers of trying different strategies and adding in more content and try to go for three times a week and then five times a week. And maybe you stay there for a while. I stayed up five times a week for many years before I really decided to go all in on this strategy where I am now.
And the other common mindset block is the perfectionism. Maybe you have a fear of your neighbor or an old high school boyfriend or people from your last job seeing your content and criticizing you or judging you or people in your field, other health practitioners judging your content. So that takes you a long time to post content or even put content that could be vulnerable out there or sharing your story out there. This is a huge time and energy suck.
And the problem about this is not just you not getting content out there and not getting your business more visible so you can sign more people, but you’re not helping the people that you could help just because you’re allowing these mindset blocks to hold you back from showing up. And no judgment here. No. I’m not throwing shade or shaming you at all because I’ve been there myself.
I’ve mentioned this on the blog before, when I first started my brick and mortar practice, I was one of the few people really combining physical therapy and yoga and holistic tactics and alternative medicine tactics like coaching and mindset and breath work. And my physical therapy office looked more like a spa, a massage clinic than it did a PT clinic. And I was afraid of other PTs coming down on me hard like saying, “You’re not using evidence-based medicine,” because there weren’t a lot of research studies out there at the time on yoga and the benefits on all the things that yoga helps with now.
Now there’s so much research, but back then there wasn’t. There was only like maybe a couple of articles, especially specific orthopedic issues. And I thought PTs were going to come down hard on me. Maybe someone would even report me to the board. I mean, my brain really ran wild with this and caused anxiety about it. It held me back until I started seeing other practitioners combining yoga, which is great and wonderful, but they had a lot less experience. They hadn’t been doing it as long as I had. They hadn’t trained with some of the long-time masters and gurus that I had. And it blew my mind that they were just out there and doing it and posting and it wasn’t an issue and their business was really growing.
And at first I beat myself up about that. I kind of went into comparison, which definitely doesn’t help either, slowed me down. But then I realized like, this isn’t about me, I could help a lot more people if more people knew that my business existed and really understood what I did because I started getting a lot of clients that had tried traditional physical therapy, had gone to Western medicine practitioners and just weren’t getting the relief and then they would come in and a few visits in, see dramatic changes. And that is what really lit me up. It was remembering that those people wouldn’t have gotten the help. They wouldn’t have had these major transformations on their own house and then leading to transformations in their own life had they not come to my office. And I am so lucky and grateful that they found me the way that they did. And I could help more people like that if I just got over my own fears and stopped thinking about myself and instead started connecting more to them.

So that is another layer that I added in to remind myself like, yes, there’s going to be people that don’t agree with me. There’s going to be physical therapists that are 100% evidence-based practices only, but that’s okay. That’s not my mindset. That’s not my belief. I believe sometimes that actually evidence-based practice holds practitioners back because a lot of those clinical studies are based upon males, white males specifically. And underprivileged societies and cultures, they’re not represented in clinical research. Females are not represented well in clinical research.
Plus, there is something so different about a patient or a client getting results in a sterile lab setting versus working with a whole person and being more dynamic and fluid in treatment modalities. But that’s just my viewpoint. But my content needed to also reflect that, that I am a little bit more cutting edge, that I’m not going to follow some cookie cutter protocol or approach just because it was published in Science. It doesn’t mean it would work well for that person. And I’m not going to force my views or my philosophies or my protocol or my framework on someone just because that’s the protocol or framework. I’m going to actually let the patient’s and the client’s beliefs and body and how they respond, their nervous system, guide the treatment.
So I had to let go of my own blocks while acknowledging why they were there in the first place and creating solutions to those blocks. And by doing that strategy, that also allowed me to show up more. And again, I didn’t just go from posting barely at all, only throwing up a birthday or a holiday or the, what do they call it? The highlight reel of my life type post. I didn’t go from doing that to then doing Facebook Lives every week because that’s what really started this blog years ago. I started interviewing practitioners on Facebook because again, what allowed me to do that was a thought.
At the time, I think there was election or something was going on. There was a lot of negativity on Facebook. And I was like, wait a minute, this is a free platform where a lot of people are and they want to connect. And how do I know? Because my cousins would tell me, they live on the other side of the country and they’re like, “Alison, I’m so glad we’re on Facebook to stay in contact.” And I was like, “People do want to connect on social media, on Facebook and it’s free. How can I provide value, provide hope?” My whole goal was to provide hope with all kind of the negativity that’s happening on Facebook right now. And I said, “The way that I can do that that feels in alignment is just by interviewing other practitioners, sharing stories of health and wellness transformations, whether it’s their own or their patients or their own methodologies in which they can help people, talking about diagnoses and symptoms that people feel that can’t be helped, but they have examples of helping people with those situations and how that can provide hope for people that maybe feel in despair or distraught because they haven’t found the solution yet to their health and wellness problem.”
That connection, that service really propelled me to believe that all my effort and time of coordinating the interviews, preparing myself if someone didn’t show up live that I would be talk by myself on Facebook live and it’d be okay, I wouldn’t die, that all of that would be worth the time. And it was, it really helped for my audience to get momentum. I have generated a lot of momentum there. I really built my audience from just a couple hundred followers of mostly my friends and family to thousands doing that every week, which then led to this podcast and blog.
And I’ve gotten a lot more confident in just showing up and created a different feedback loop for myself and my nervous system on what it means to post on social media. I went from feeling vulnerable, being afraid of being criticized, more hermit, shyer, lacking my own self-image and self-doubts to now feeling connected to my audience, showing up confident that I know I’m delivering value and just showing up more and that led to more posts.
Eventually, I switched from the Facebook live interviews to the podcast, my Instagram started growing so I shifted more energy there as well, but it all started with that connection and service to my audience.

Conclusion
Okay, let’s do a recap now of the minimalist approach to posting on Instagram so you can show up more and sign more clients. Because if you do stick with it, you will sign more clients. Figure out the time in your schedule that you can post sustainably so you can do it after week after week. And is it one hour, is it two, so forth.
Figure out what’s realistic in terms of number of posts. You can do average, two to three, one a week, shooting for five like I did within that content time. And remember, you need to leave time for both creating the content and then posting and engaging with your audience.
And right down next, the styles or how you want to show up on Instagram. Do you want to do static posts, are you going to do carousels, are you going to do reels and how can you show up in stories too because you do want to show up in stories? So what are the format styles of how you’re going to show up just organically? What makes sense to you where you are now that you could show up? And what’s the strategy? How are you going to do that? Are you going to utilize two episodes ago some of that messaging content strategies? Are you just going to show up and speak from the heart? Are you going to tell more stories, your client’s stories, your house story, take them more on a hero’s journey? What’s simplest for you now to do that? And as you do that, then you can post a bigger picture plan of strategies that you want to integrate into this plan over time.
Number one, maybe being the messaging, adding in more messaging strategies. I teach my clients in the Awaken Business Coaching, the seven S’s of the 100K marketing message plan. Maybe you want to add in different types of format beyond reels or different formats of reels like using GIFs or talking heads or B-rolls. You can add all of that one at a time layer by layer.
How will you evaluate your content so you know what’s working and what’s not? So you can refine and repurpose like I’ve said, I reuse my content. I look back at pieces of content that has worked well. And sometimes I literally will just use the same copy but put it on a different video or vice versa. If a video did well and I did the timing well, cause sometimes I mess up with the timing of when the captions show up or the copy shows up on the reel, but I did that well, but I think I could prove upon the caption, I’ll reuse the video and then just update the caption. So you can reuse things.
How can you make the process simpler for yourself? Can you develop folders and organizational methods so you don’t always have to be feeling like you have to, like my client Dana, set aside 90 minutes to create something from scratch and one post takes a long time. How can you organize folders in your phone or on your desktop that have B-roll footage that you can just use?
Or for me, another strategy or hack that I use that saves a lot of time as well is I have folders in my saved Instagram. I have folders and when a piece of content does well, I flag it and I say content to repeat. And then again, I can just repeat the video because I have the video in my B-roll folder in my phone where I can just reuse a caption and change it slightly so Instagram doesn’t flag it as a duplicate.
So there’s a few ways to really save yourself time and you can add in these layers over time. And if you’re still freezing, it’s figuring out and tracking down the mindset blocks that are really holding you back from posting more. What are your thoughts about time? What are your thoughts about showing up? What are your thoughts about your schedule? What are your thoughts about Instagram? Are you feeling that it’s worthwhile? Do you have a belief that your time and effort will pay off on Instagram? And if not, making sure to get coached on that, it can really change everything.
And like my client, you can go from what my client did, you can go from one client a week to 12 clients a week. Like my client, Katie, who was frozen, barely posting, just the highlight reel of her vacations and not posting at all because she hired a marketing agency and had some flops with that to now posting five, seven, even more. I see her out there, she’s burning it up even more than seven times a week and get generating, going reels from just a couple hundred views, two to 300, maybe 600 views to now thousands of views each reel without spending a whole lot more time generating content.
So all this is possible for YouTube. You just have to figure out where exactly you’re stuck and what is the simplest next step and how can you create that minimalist approach so it feels simple and doable and get out there and try it, evaluate and then add in a layer. And then the week after, add in another layer. Keep it the same if it’s working and ride that momentum. And then over time, add in more layers. And then you get to where I am where you don’t have to ever gone viral. I’ve never gone viral. Yes, I’ve had reels that have done well, have gotten tens of thousands of views but, and I’ve had carousels that have gotten like hundreds of likes but I’ve never gone viral where they’ve gotten hundreds of thousands of views or a million views or thousands of likes but I’ve had clients that have done that. My client Sarah has done that. But I have an audience of 9,000 people and even before I got to an audience of that size, I was still signing clients.
In fact, when I hit six figures I need to have an audience even close to that on Instagram or Facebook. So you don’t need a large audience. You don’t have to have gone viral. Your messaging doesn’t have to be perfect. Your calls to action, you can try them out. You just have to start somewhere by showing up consistently, whatever that means for you and that know that over time you will build and grow. So start with the minimalist approach today and let me know how it goes.
I would love to hear your story. Just tag me or message me on Instagram, Ignite Your Wellness Business with a UR or even better yet, book your consult call.
